According to NFL Research, a dozen notable sons of former NFL players are among the prospects slated to attend the combine. Additionally, several other participants have family ties to the NFL, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the event.

Some of the standout prospects with NFL lineage include Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State, son of Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison; Frank Gore Jr. from Southern Miss, son of Frank Gore, the NFL’s third all-time leading rusher; Brenden Rice from USC, son of Hall of Fame legend Jerry Rice; and Kris Jenkins from Michigan, son of multi-time All-Pro defensive tackle Kris Jenkins.

This abundance of familiar surnames could make the 2024 NFL Draft a particularly memorable one.

In addition to the like-father-like-son dynamics, there are other family connections to watch for at the combine. For instance, Luke McCaffrey from Rice is not only the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey but also the brother of current NFL star Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers. Similarly, linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. from Clemson has NFL lineage through his father, a former Pro Bowl linebacker, as well as his cousin Terrance Ganaway, who also played in the NFL.

Furthermore, several prospects have relatives who were involved in the NFL in various capacities, adding another dimension to the familial theme of the combine.

As the live drills commence at the combine, airing on NFL Network, fans can expect to witness the talents of defensive linemen and linebackers on Thursday, followed by defensive backs and tight ends on Friday. The action continues on Saturday with quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs, concluding on Sunday with offensive linemen.

The culmination of the combine will pave the way for the highly anticipated 2024 NFL Draft, scheduled to take place from April 25-27 in Detroit.
