Former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman was arrested in Washington state early Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence, as reported by the Washington State Patrol.
Trooper Jordan Hazzard-Thomas, involved in the traffic stop, noted in a probable cause statement that Sherman exhibited signs of intoxication, including the smell of alcohol and bloodshot, watery eyes.
Efforts to obtain comments on Sherman’s arrest were made through his social media representative and a previously associated attorney. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced that Sherman was scheduled for a court hearing on Monday.
Sherman, renowned for his tenure in the NFL, notably with the Seattle Seahawks, where he contributed to a Super Bowl victory in the 2013 season, enjoyed an illustrious 11-year career. Recognized as a three-time All-Pro, he was honored with a place on the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s.
His professional journey spanned from Seattle to San Francisco and Tampa Bay, following his collegiate success at Stanford University. Post-retirement, Sherman transitioned into a role as a football analyst.
This incident comes after Sherman’s 2022 guilty plea in Seattle for misdemeanor charges linked to a prior DUI and domestic disturbance, alongside a speeding infraction in a construction zone.
