Actress Anya Taylor-Joy graced the red carpet at the premiere of “Dune 2,” confirming her involvement in the sequel to “Dune.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, at the event in London on February 15th, when asked about her feelings on being part of the project, Anya said: “It’s like a dream come true. The novels were already captivating, but with the cast and director Denis Villeneuve, everything is even more amazing. It’s one of the best films I’ve ever seen.”

A day after the London premiere, fans were buzzing as they saw the film database site Letterboxd list Dune 2 among the movies featuring Anya Taylor-Joy. The entry was swiftly removed, but audiences continued to spread the news on film forums. According to Variety, the actress’s role was kept under wraps until the global release of the film on March 1st.

Anya joins the list of stars appearing in the film, including Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, and Christopher Walken. In addition to the two main leads – Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, returning cast members for the second installment include Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.

Adapted from Frank Herbert’s novel, the sequel continues the story from the previous installment, focusing on Paul Atreides’ (played by Timothée Chalamet) quest for revenge against those who destroyed his family. Paul receives help from the Fremen people and Chani (Zendaya) – the beautiful woman he met during his exile.

Compared to the first part, Paul Atreides becomes more resilient and hardened after enduring significant family turmoil. Transitioning from a naive teenager, he must shoulder the fate of the entire planet Arrakis, with simmering resentment beneath the sand waiting to erupt. Paul succeeds in taming the fearsome giant sandworms that appeared in the previous installment, earning cheers and admiration from the populace.

After its premiere on February 15th, “Dune 2” received high praise from industry experts, with many considering it one of the best science fiction films to date.
