Following the initial “Dune” film’s release, Zendaya and her “image architect,” Law Roach, showcased a series of striking, seemingly symbolic ensembles amidst the subdued atmosphere of late 2021, a period shadowed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Among these, Zendaya donned a exquisitely-draped Balmain gown, creating the illusion of being drenched — a striking juxtaposition for a movie centered around a parched desert planet. Additionally, she flaunted a sculptural off-white Rick Owens gown, blending futurism with timeless elegance. Her co-star, Timothée Chalamet, also delved into unconventional styling, appearing in a zippered Alexander McQueen suit reminiscent of the structured black uniform of his character, Paul Atreides, the youthful heir to one of the film’s great houses within the galactic empire.

Now, as the second film approaches, the entire cast is embracing full-fledged fantasy. During recent stops in Mexico City and Paris, Zendaya turned heads with experimental looks featuring exaggerated silhouettes that echo the movie’s sci-fi landscapes. These included a chic rendition of a cropped desert cloak and high-slit skirt from Bottega Veneta’s Fall-Winter 2023 runway, as well as a gravity-defying white spiral gown from Alaïa.

At the London premiere, Zendaya and Roach made a grand statement in an archival Thierry Mugler robotic suit from the fashion house’s Fall-Winter 1995 couture collection. Alongside her, Chalamet’s silver patchwork Haider Ackermann pants made a valiant attempt to match the spectacle. Additionally, Florence Pugh opted for a dazzling black hooded dress by Valentino, while Lea Seydoux and Rebecca Ferguson embraced the ethereal theme with regal, otherworldly ensembles from Louis Vuitton and Fendi, respectively.

Anya Taylor-Joy made a surprise appearance in a custom ethereal white gown by Dior, confirming her involvement in the film and sparking speculation online about her mysterious role.
